Embodied Energy: Reflection, Revelations, Shadow Self, Illumination, Intuition

The Moon

When I pull The Moon, I know I’ve been slacking on my dream journal, or avoiding my shadow self & all the signs she’s bringing me. Under The Moon all is revealed, all that is hidden in the daylight is suddenly illuminated. I know, I know; we can't see in the dark, but if you take a deep breath, relax and let your eyes adjust to this newness, a path will light up. The Moon is telling you to consciously confront your subconscious. All those weird occurrences in your dreams aren't random, The Moon is holding up a mirror, allowing you to dwell in your darker side under the moonlight It allows you to surrender, accept, embrace and fully love yourself.

If you're pulling The Moon in a reading, it’s time to integrate the darkness, not cast it out. I'll give you a sec to digest that... Once you dig deep, you will feel so much better & so much closer to yourself. Like personally, yes, I can be selfish and a brat, but I accept that, and I embrace that bish. I’m at peace with my inner brat, I bask in her crazy bratty beauty. The Moon tells me to cherish my wild feminine instincts. So, dwell in this energy, because it's an integral part of who you really are. This resistance to embracing all parts of you is what hinders your progress in embodying the best version of yourself.

When you pull The Moon, there will probably be an initial sense of confusion. You'll think, “Issues...What issues?!" I admittedly see myself in this energy often, and then The Moon catches me slipping, yelling “Stop lying to yourself boo, there's always more within.” The confusion always leads me to dive deeper. So, take the time to pause, relax and reflect. Start that dream journal you've been putting off; go deeper into those traits you show that make you question yourself. Embrace the light and the dark, feel peace in the balance that is you.

If you're feeling yourself lost in the sauce of The Moons energy, chances are you’re feeling a little anxious. Maybe you're not anxious at all and you're just avoiding your shadow self & aren't recognizing all the lessons in the recurring “negativity” around you. Maybe you've finally recognized that it's time to embrace the light AND the dark, that your higher self is bringing things to the surface to help you GROW.

The Moon sits in the Crown Chakra or Sahasrara, where it rules all of your bodily systems. When the Crown Chakra is balanced, you feel freedom, unity, lightness, and joy. Sitting in The Moon's energy too long may make you feel the complete opposite. It may make you feel restless or uneasy. Let's give you some insightful tips to aid in balancing your time spent sitting with The Moon.

Working with Crystal Magick

Crystals are directly from the Earth, so it only makes sense that they're conduits for healing. Although you may not feel it, they quite literally “vibrate” & emit a range of energizing, positive, uplifting, & calming vibrations to help you achieve a more peaceful, balanced state of being. Each beautiful stone has unique emotional, spiritual, & physical healing properties, so they can support you in all your endeavors while also growing the connection between mind, body, and spirit.

Be sure to cleanse Crystals before working with them. This can be done by burying them, laying them on another cleansing Crystal (like Selenite), doing a smoke cleanse with Palo Santo or another cleansing herb. If you decide to cleanse with water, please make sure that your particular Crystal is water safe.

Here's how you can work with & benefit from the healing energy of Crystals:

*Wear as jewelry

*Hold stone in hand when extra support is needed

*Keep it in your pocket or your bra for all day support

*Use during meditation or yoga

*Place them throughout your spaces with intention (Ex: I keep Smoky Quartz & Red Aragonite on my work desk to keep me grounded & to ward off negative energy)

Working with Herbal Magick

The actions of herbs that heal the physical body often coincide with their essences and heal the spiritual body. Thus, healing you from the inside out. Connecting, working, and healing with the help of a plant allies' essence (spiritual property) is what we resonate and connect with deeply. However, the incredible physical benefits of consuming and using plants topically just can't be ignored. Below you can find a list of herbs with their physical actions, spiritual essences, and magical uses to help you embody the energy of The Moon.

All of the herbs listed here can be found in The Moon Organic Handcrafted Herbal Blend.

Chamomile

Herbal Actions: Nervine, Tonic, Antispasmodic, Sedative, Aromatic, Bitter, Analgesic

Chamomile is one of the most ancient, widely used and well documented medicinal herbs known. Its earliest recorded use for medicinal purposes was in 1550 B.C.E — featured in Ebers Papyrus - An Egyptian medical papyrus of herbal knowledge. There's a lot to say about Chamomile and its scientifically studied uses in the modern age, all of which are in direct relation with balancing your Crown Chakra, bringing your body systems to a perfect equilibrium.

Chamomile is widely used to treat inflammations of the skin and mucous membranes, and for various bacterial infections of the skin, mouth, & digestive tract:

Oral- Cold Chamomile tea can be used to treat mouth infections and mild tooth aches.

Digestive- A daily infusion every evening can ease digestive issues like IBS and nervous stomach aches.

Skin- Protects the skin from free radical damage. It soothes irritation, redness and improves overall skin quality.

Due to Apigenin- an antioxidant that is said to have a calming effect on the brain, Chamomile is very well known in its ability to act as a mild sedative to calm nerves, reduce anxiety, quell nightmares, insomnia & other sleep related problems. It is recommended in aromatherapy to relieve anxiety, nervousness and general depression.

Chamomile Magick

Burn Chamomile during meditations to clear the mind. Sprinkle around your property to combat curses and spells cast against you. Chamomile is known to be used by gamblers as a hand wash of the infusion to ensure winnings. Use money spells and carry on your person to attract luck and abundance. Tuck a Chamomile sachet under your pillow at night to prevent nightmares and promote a restful night's sleep.

Cinnamon

Herbal Actions: Analgesic, Expectorant, Carminative, Sedative, Antibacterial, Antiviral, Demulcent, Astringent

I was amazed when I found out Cinnamon sticks came from a tree. The tree is native to humid tropical forests in Sri Lanka & Southwestern India. Cinnamon sticks are actually not sticks at all. They’re quills that are harvested by carefully peeling away the outer bark and cutting a sheet of the inner bark. As the inner bark dries up, it naturally rolls up into the little sticks we're so familiar with. Cinnamon was once VERY expensive, considered an acceptable gift to the gods and given to reigning monarchs, which makes it hard to believe that it's so available and inexpensive today.

Shit learned through experience can make for funny stories later on. I once wanted to create a quick protective shower rinse and decided to make a (too strong) infusion of Cinnamon. I left it in the fridge overnight, not thinking anything of it. The next day I went to pour the infusion over my head in the shower & a slimy gel of Cinnamon water covered my body. I had no idea what happened and thought the Cinnamon was rancid--or even worse, I was cursed! This story is just to explain how that day I discovered that Cinnamon has an amazing demulcent action, which is known to relieve irritation of the mucous membranes and soothes inflammation and irritation - Internally and externally.

Cinnamon water has been used as a traditional healing remedy to treat a cough, the flu, the common cold & a sore throat. Its antioxidants/antimicrobial & demulcent effects soothe the throat lining and can fight the virus causing you to feel ill.

For the skin, Cinnamon's astringent properties can plump your skin and make it look more evenly toned. Its antibacterial properties make it great for acne prone skin. I personally love using Cinnamon in my face steams.

Cinnamon Magick

Cinnamon is incredibly protective. Tie together Cinnamon sticks and hang them above your door to shield your home from negative energies and entities. Carry a whole Cinnamon stick with you to places you feel you need extra spiritual protection. Burn Cinnamon to raise the vibrations of a space & drink Cinnamon tea to raise your internal vibrations.

Skullcap

Herbal Actions: Nervine Tonic, Sedative, Antispasmodic, Analgesic

Skullcap is a great ally for people who suffer from anxiety and irritability. It is a nervine tonic that assists in releasing nervous tension while simultaneously renewing the central nervous system. It's important to note however, that the Tonic action does its magic when the herbs are used daily, over a longer period of time. Take your time with Skullcap and all other tonics and do not expect immediate results.

My favorite way to have Skullcap is in the form of a warm tea before bed. If you're looking for a blend that induces a deep healing state of sleep, it should include Skullcap. It works wonders for those who suffer from insomnia, especially when it's hard to stop your mind from chattering. It does a good job at inducing a deep healing state of sleep without strongly sedating you.

An interesting study I’ve come across shows that Skullcap root also works as a natural UV protectant that can be used to protect the skin from sunburns.

Skullcap Magick

Take a bath with Skullcap leaves to remove disharmony from your life. Use it in rituals for promoting peace and calm. When used during trancework or astral projection, Skullcap keeps the spirit secured to the body.

Passionflower

Herbal Actions: Sedative, Antispasmodic, Anodyne, Nervine

Passionflowers are exquisitely unique flowers that come in all shades and grow on vines. If you see your Passionflowers covered in ants- fear not, for they have a beautiful symbiotic relationship. Passionflowers provide ants a nutritious nectar and in turn, the ants protect the leaves from predators, like fritillary caterpillars.

Passionflower is another sedative herb that aids in the transition to a restful sleep without any “narcotic like” hangover. Scientists believe that Passionflower works by affecting the GABA receptors in your brain- which makes you feel more relaxed. This also aids with the symptoms of anxiety.

Topically, Passionflower is ideal for all skin types. It is known to boost circulation and is rich in Omega-7 essential fatty acids that protect the skin from dryness, while also neutralizing sebum production, making it great for acne prone skin.

Passionflower Magick

Place a sachet filled with Passionflower under your pillow to aid in sleep and to prevent nightmares. Hang in the home to calm troubles and bring peace. Carry Passionflower to get your mojo back and to increase happiness. Use it during meditation to aid in healing the body, mind, & soul.

Affirmation Magick

Most of the Affirmations I have listed here were given to Mercedez by her Reiki Teacher- Alia, and can be used to assist in balancing the Chakras during Reiki sessions. You can use all of them, or particular ones you’re drawn to when working with The Moon. Choosing Mantras that make you feel uncomfortable or inauthentic will be the most beneficial on your journey. I find that Affirmations work best for me when I focus on one at a time, for as long as needed. This could be saying it out loud, in my head, or during meditation every day for weeks, or even months. Once it doesn’t feel foreign or like I'm lying to myself, I know it's integrated and is truly a part of me and how I choose to live my life.

I am the cosmos in human form.

I am free of outer influence.

I am consistently led and guided by spirit.

I honor the light and shadow within myself.

The divine is within me.

I am complete, exactly as I am.
